Our Programs
These programs are primarily funded by our public awareness campaigns, our sponsors, and government grants. Our focus is the enabling and empowerment of individuals living with physical disabilities, in order that they may live more fulfilling and independant lives.
Opportunities for the Disabled collaborates with different organizations with like purposes and mandates as well as governmental and non-governmental agencies in the countries where we serve.
Who can Participate in the Opportunities for the Disabled Programs?
Our programs are open to all physically challenged Canadians, and to persons worldwide, however our programs are specifically designed to benefit the lower income person, who would not be able to acquire the needed equipment on their own.
How do you apply?
Applying for the program is easy, simply telephone the OFTD office in your area and request a grant application. The grant application is separated into 3 sections, one for the applicant, one for an assessor and one for the physician.
For the medical equipment donations program we have also added an appendix form to be completed by the occupational therapist in order to help us determine the specific requirements of each individual applicant.
Each individual applicant is then processed according to need and availability of the item requested. Funding for the project is made possible by caring individuals and corporate donors, and the generous support of the B.C. Government.
