Welcome to Opportunities for the Disabled worldwide internet website !
Opportunities for the Disabled or O.F.T.D. is a Canadian based registered charitable non-profit organization. We host our International headquarters in beautiful Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
Our Mission: Is to eliminate the barriers, both physical and societal, that prevent physically disabled individuals from being fully integrated into society; and to assist these individuals to successfully achieve more fulfilling, productive, and independent lives.
We believe it is our social, ethical, and moral responsibility to assist our elderly, veterans, and all physically challenged individuals in our local communities. We unite and educate our communities in order to accomplish and fulfill this community-based principle that we take seriously!
Our community supported programs address the critical issues of mobility, and the special needs that physically challenged individuals have, needs that are sometimes not readily available.
Opportunities for the Disabled staff and volunteers work hard in our communities to enable physically challenged individuals to live more fulfilling and independent lives, regardless of their physical disability, age, sex, race, or religion.
Opportunities for the Disabled operates a year round Public Awareness Campaign across Canada informing, and educating the general public about specific disability issues, and about programs that are available for physically challenged Canadians.
In addition to these community supported initiatives we have created a unique, and essential resource for physically challenged Canadians and those that serve them our annual Disability Resource Guide©. This publication offers up-todate, accurate information about programs and resources for physically challenged Canadians in a user friendly and easy to read format.
Opportunities for the Disabled collaborates with different organizations with like purposes and mandates, as well as governmental and non-governmental agencies in the countries where we serve.
